USCIS Introduces Virtual Assistant, “Emma”

emma
Have a question for U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services? “Emma” can help.
Emma, a virtual assistant recently launched on uscis.gov, is named after Emma Lazarus. Her poem, “The New Colossus,” is inscribed at the base of the Statue of Liberty. Ms. Lazarus was a writer who was also involved in charitable work for refugees.
On uscis.gov, “Emma” can help customers find information quickly. She replies to questions in English and directs users to relevant links. Emma was developed in an effort to improve customer service and provide a self-help tool that can give replies to general information requests, instead of calling a USCIS call center.
Emma can be accessed on a desktop or laptop for now, but she’ll be available on mobile devices soon. She will also be able to respond in Spanish starting in early 2016.
To chat with Emma, go to uscis.gov and click on “Ask a Question.” Emma’s knowledge base will grow with each question she is asked.
