MyE-Verify Expands Services and Introduces Spanish-Language Capability

MyE-verify Expands Services
E-Verify is a program offered by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) that allows U.S. employers to verify the employment eligibility of new hires. The program is currently being used by 600,000 employers at over 1.9 million hiring sites in the U.S. In 2014, DHS launched a corresponding program for employees, myE-Verify, which helps protect employees’ identity, confirm their own employment eligibility, learn their rights, and follow their E-Verify case. Interested employees and job seekers access these services by creating a free and secure personal myE-Verify account.
USCIS recently announced the expansion of myE-Verify and the service is now available in a Spanish-language format. MyE-Verify users now have access to the following services in both English and Spanish:

  • Self Lock: account holders can “lock” their Social Security numbers to their personal account, thus preventing others from stealing their identity in E-Verify.
  • Self Check: users can verify their employment eligibility by entering personal information in the system, which is then cross-checked in government databases and confirmed.
  • Resource Center: users have access to educational information about employees’ rights and employers’ responsibilities in the employment eligibility verification process.

In addition to expanding its language functions, myE-Verify has also debuted two new features:

  • Case History: account holders can generate a report to learn when their data was used in E-Verify
  • Case Tracker: users can track the status of their E-Verify case by plugging in their case verification number (no account required).
