Client Testimonial from Shahzeb Butt, Senior Financial Analyst for Livingston International

USA and Canadian flags on a gears (clipping path included)

Berardi Immigration Law began working with Mr. Shahzeb Butt to secure employment status for him in the United States in April of 2014. Mr. Butt had been employed with Livingston International Canada in the role of Senior Financial Analyst since 2011, giving him more than three years of qualifying managerial employment. At that time, our office filed a successful L-1A application on his behalf with the U.S. Embassy in Toronto. The petition was approved for a full three-year period.

In December of 2015, our firm then filed a concurrent I-140 and Adjustment of Status application on behalf of Mr. Butt. His employer, Livingston International, sponsored him for an I-140 under the EB-1C preference category for Multinational Managers. Both the I-140 and the Adjustment of Status were approved successfully and Mr. Butt was granted an employment-based green card with 10 years of validity.

When his employer first suggested transferring him to the U.S., Mr. Butt was hesitant. In his testimonial he writes, “I wanted to move to the U.S. long-term from Canada. The firm suggested I go through the L-1A (Intracompany Manager/Executive) visa process, since my company in Canada was willing to transfer me to the U.S. and this was the shortest path for me to get a green card in the U.S. I was a bit scared initially, as I did not have direct reports, nor was I a very senior person in my organization. I was only in my mid twenties!”

While at that time Mr. Butt did not have any direct reports, our firm was able to argue that his role as a functional manager qualified him for the L-1A category. He goes on to explain, “Berardi Immigration crafted a brilliant case for me, as to how my job description and responsibilities fit with the guidelines provided by USCIS for the Executive/Manager category. They left no stones unturned, were very meticulous and responsive.”

He concludes by stating, “I had the utmost confidence that they knew what they were doing, which put me at ease throughout this process. They were also very responsive and made sure every question I had was answered.”
